U21A Hurlers defeated by Castlelyons

The U21 A Hurlers took on Castlelyons in the County quarter final in Ovens on Sunday. Despite the heavy rainfall in recent days the pitch was in very good condition for the game which was played in front of a decent crowd.

Clon started brightly and led by 0-04 to 0-2 after the opening quarter. Castlelyons responded with a goal to take the lead but Clon hit back through David Lowney and Sean McEvoy scores. It was Castlelyons who ended the half much stronger by outscoring Clon 1-03 to 0-01 to lead at half time 2-06 to 0-09.

Castlelyons began the opening half in ideal fashion to extend their lead with a goal. However Clon didn’t lie down and scored an unanswered 1-03 to level the game after 40 minutes 1-12 to 3-06. Again Castlelyons goal to open up an advantage and tapped over the points to lead by five points entering the final minutes.

In the closing minutes Clon goaled through a close in Mark White free but shortly after the final whistle went.

Final score : Clonakilty 2-15 to Castlelyons 4-11
