Match Report: Clon minor footballers had a great win away to Bantry in the West Cork
Minor A football league match on Wed 14th July. Final score Clon 3-11 to Bantry 1-12.
The game which was played at a fast pace, despite the intense heat, was played on a beautiful pitch, by two fine teams who provided a wonderful evening’s entertainment.
The game was ably refereed by Joe Kelly.
The game was keenly contested in the first half with some great scores from both sides.
Clon led at half time 2-05 to 1-07 at half time with the Clon goals coming from John O’Donovan and Conor Daly.
Clon started the second half in fine style with some great point scoring from David Price (0-2)and Liam Knowles.
The turning point in the game was a sensational goal by John O’Donovan at the start of the 4th quarter.
Clon defended resolutely in the last quarter with some great displays from Tim McCarthy, Patrick McCarthy, Chris Kenneally and Rory White. Clon held on in the end to win a by 5 points.
