U21B Team win West Cork Championship
The U21B Football team took on St James in the final of the U21C West Cork Football final on Sunday 21st May in Ballinascarthy. Clon went into the game as heavy underdogs against the first team of St James. Clon played with the advantage of a strong breeze in the opening half and started brightly and led 0-05 to 0-03 after an even opening quarter. Clon were boosted by a goal from Maurice Shanley and added further scores before half time. Another goal from Ciaran Crowley before half time gave Clon a commanding lead at half time 2-09 to 0-05.
St James started the second half brightly with wind assistance and had narrowed the gap 2-10 to 0-9 after 40 minutes. However Clon were not be denied and helped by good defending the forwards tagged on the scores as Clon ended up convincing and deserved winners 2-15 to 1-11.
